Really Strategies recently polled a select group of publishers to understand projections on the shifting revenue metrics around digital and print products. The results are within our own expectations:

When does your organization project digital revenue exceeding print revenue?

In some cases, we've seen digital revenue actually drive print revenue!

Where is your organization on this timeline? Do you anticipate digital revenue to exceed print revenue in 2012?

Hi Marianne... Very interesting information and the reference site has a ton of great links. Thanks! I think it would be helpful if the polling information was more specific as to what niche publishing industry was being sampled. The reported numbers are very far off of the small to medium size newspaper market's numbers.

Thanks, Stan! The poll was conducted at our annual RSuite User conference. Our respondents comprise RSuite customers and the majority are STM and educational publishers. Some tradebook pubs are thrown in there as well. We plan to dive deeper into this poll and release a full report in 2012. No newspaper representation is included in the data.

This year, for the first time, an ebook publisher recruited me to write an ebook. I'm the author of many books, some of them available in ebook format as well as softcover, but I'm seeing a surge in demand for ebooks, probably with pressure from those who own Kindles, Nooks, and iPads.
